i read a quote today in the SF chronicle by nazi assistant U.S. attorney jefferey finnigan, and he said something to the effect of; josh wolf is "delusional" and that additional time in prison might help him realize that he is not a genuine journalist, but "simply a person with a video camera who happens to record some public events" - hmmm...
well i've got news for y'all, cuz it really doesn't matter whether you're - a) a major corporation with stockholders who determine what you write about, a video camera and independent thoughts dedicated to print; or - b) a private individual with no stockholders to answer to, a video camera and independent thoughts dedicated to print - in a very large sense IT'S THE EXACT SAME THING, the only difference is that POWER HAS NOW BEEN DECENTRALIZED and at least some people within the government and/or the government-controlled media are up in arms about this turn from the putrid old 'one voice of america' mentality (you must remember that the internet was once only for the military and it was a bit of a struggle to turn it into the public institution that it is)...
competition is needed in journalism just as much as it is in business, as it adds perspective and options to allow people to make more informed decisions rather than highly-controlled decisions...
FURTHERMORE; The text of the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution reads as follows: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment
now; i was educated at the top of my class for about 12 years by our proud education system (back when it was worth a crap), and i know what the words 'freedom' and 'press' mean, so i do not need some ass-backwards, condescending and insulting federal judge from the bush administration to interpret those same words for me - it's really that simple...
let me tell you all a little story; the roots of modern democracy allegedly began back in the ancient roman empire inside a jewish enclave, and within this enclave they had public hearings where individuals were allowed to literally get down on their knees and spit on the ground in front of their enclave leaders to show how they felt...and why?; because they ALL knew what oppression really was, and where it was as well; outside the walls of the enclave...now; how has the interpretation of democracy changed since then, and how has $$$ money $$$ affected the process? (and how has this affected how we all act within the confines of our own enclaves?) i think we ALL know the answers to those questions...
OK; now i have proven that i am a viable journalist as bad ass as any out there (if not badder asser) and even a bit 'dangerous' and unstoppable, and even one willing to give his life to protect his homeland and/or country (as opposed to taking lives in another country - anybody see the difference? i didn't think so) so anybody who attempts to deny my journalistsic integrity at this point in time is either full of shit or just plain jealous of my abilities - depending on which word or words you like to use (and i do not need some crooked federal judge or delusionally omnipotent U.S attorney to determine this for me either) take yer NEW WORLD ORDER and shove it up yer ass, bush administration!...
